In our How We Do Marketing series we’ll give you an inside view on how brilliant members of our community build their brands. The sessions will touch on everything from strategy and the role of marketing in different businesses to execution. Our aim is that you feel inspired by great work and fired up to go make things happen.

Mallow & Marsh is a premium confectionery brand dedicated to putting good marshmallows on the map. Set up as a result of a bet with friends in late 2013, Harriot has grown the business from her kitchen table to become the largest slab marshmallow brand in the UK, helping to transform the premium confectionery category through quality and true innovation, putting great taste and ingredients at the centre of everything they do.

Over the years Mallow & Marsh has grown a loyal following of whiskateers, converting the claims of ‘I don’t like marshmallows’ to, ‘but I love Mallow & Marsh’. As a bootstrapped business, marketing always took a back seat due to budget restraints.

Therefore the team have always had to put guerilla tactics and creative thinking at the centre of any activity, driving a frank, no nonsense approach to marketing, focussed on us being us, and engaging with our consumers as real people. The results have been some of the most loyal and engaged consumers in the category, driving word-of-mouth sales and a category leading NPS score of 48.
